Atchley Chiropractic is a Father/Son owned chiropractic office in Albuquerque, NM that specializes in creating a lifestyle of wellness for our patients. We believe in not only treating patients, but educating patients on the entire process. We have a simple process on what to expect for your first visit and will walk through everything from underlying issues and treatment plans, to looking at your insurance benefits and seeing exactly what treatment will cost you out of pocket. Dr. Lyman S Atchley, DC

Dr. Lyman S Atchley, is a third generation native New Mexican. He graduated from Valley High School in Albuquerque and then attended Palmer College of Chiropractic graduating in June 1965. Upon graduation, he went to Lubbock, Texas to intern with Dr. William Blair of the Blair Technique. Dr. Atchley remained in Lubbock for two years learning and perfecting his upper cervical technique. In1967, he re- turned to Albuquerque where he opened his own office on San Pedro across from the Fair grounds and later went into practice with Dr. Herb Beatty and Dr. Jack Zipper. In 1980, Dr. Atchley and Dr. Beatty built their own office on Pennsylvania Cir where they have been practicing together for the past 49 years.

Here is a short list of the many accomplishments in his career: Full time chiropractic practitioner since 1965; F.I.C.C. – Honorary, Fellow International College of chiropractors; Past President and all offices of New Mexico Chiropractic Association; Past Board of Director of New Mexico Chiropractic Association; Past Chairman/Member of Board of Chiropractic Examiners Appointed by Gov. Johnson; Present Chairman/Member of Board of Chiropractic Examiners Appointed by Gov. Richardson; and Lifetime member of the New Mexico Chi- ropractic Association.

Dr. Atchley has always believed in the betterment of his profession and improving the application of Chiropractic. He has advanced his skills with a variety of techniques including Gonstead, Activator; Goodhart, Sacro Occipital research seminars and Blair Upper Cervical.

He has mentored many fledgling Chiropractors throughout the years and has helped them establish practices of their own. His son, Dr. Derek Atchley, is now in practice with him. Dr. Atchley’s love of the profession is only matched by his love of serving the generations of patients he has treated over the last 50 years. Still in a very active practice and exhibiting no signs of slowing down, he continues to have passion to serve Chiropractic and the community of New Mexico to the best of his abilities.

Dr. Derek Atchley joined his Father Dr. Lyman Atchley in practice in 2005 as a Doctor of Chiropractic at Atchley Chiropractic started in 1967 – one of Albuquerque's most established chiropractic practices Throughout his career, Dr. Derek has helped patients to improve their health by combining the most state-of-the-art techniques in chiropractic with overall wellness strategies – and is dedicated to delivering health care that works to "make people healthier from the inside out."

A firm believer in the power of a Chiropractic lifestyle, Dr. Derek brings his personal commitment and strong expertise in Wellness strategies to Albuquerque. His mission as a Chiropractor is to “Add more LIFE to your YEARS!” by helping you recognize that it is much easier to stay healthy than to wait until you have a problem and then try to get healthy.

Dr. Atchley has dedicated his career to Chiropractic Care for all ages.
Having grown up in a family of 11 Chiropractors, Dr. Atchley witnessed, and experienced, the benefits of Chiropractic in helping people improve their health from birth to 100. He has two wonderful kids; Sophie and Parker. Dr. Derek is a third generation New Mexican and enjoys all aspects of living in the State.

Dr. Derek Atchley graduated Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, October 2005. Since then he has continued to advance his knowledge of Chiropractic and how to live a healthier life. His patient’s range from infant’s to Top UFC fighters.

A dynamic speaker and sought-after media personality, Dr. Derek is an advocate of people taking responsibility for their own health. Through an ongoing series of Health lectures at his office Dr. Derek shares his compelling knowledge about the difference between sick care and health care, the importance of pain and the negative effects of lifestyle stress.

First Time Visit?

Here's How To Come Prepared:

Upon entering the office, we have some brief paperwork for you to fill out. The paperwork provides us with general information about yourself and your condition. Fill out your New Patient Paperwork here!

Once the paperwork has been completed, you will have a consultation with the doctor to discuss your health-related problems, history, concerns, as well as potential treatment options.

In order to determine what your actual problem is, the doctor will ask you various questions related to your condition. Next, a number of specialized tests will be performed to determine which tissues are affected and to what extent.

Your specific condition may require us to take x-rays to either rule out more serious conditions or assist us in developing the most effective treatment plan for you.

You will be given a convenient appointment time for your follow-up visit. Generally speaking, patients are seen within 1-2 days and are provided with a complete review of findings. Treatment options for your condition will also be discussed during this time.
